Personal training
Strength training for women over 40
One on one coaching in Osborne Park, built around your body and your week. Just you and me, in a small community gym.

Who you’ll be training with
Every session is with me
I’m Alex, a personal trainer qualified in matwork Pilates, Yoga (350h training level, Yoga Australia) and Strength for Life, the accredited program from COTA for strength training over 50s.
Working one on one means everything moves at your pace, with a plan built around your body.
More about me
What’s included
Forty five minutes, start to finish
- We start with movement. A warm-up that eases the stiffness and gets you ready.
- Then we lift. Real weights, taught properly, building up as you get stronger.
- How you move matters more than how much you lift. So I’m watching and adjusting the whole way.
- We finish with a stretch, so you walk out looser than you walked in.
What I offer
Two ways to train
One to one
45 minute session
Just you and me, with a plan built around your body. Twice a week is the minimum, because that is where steady progress actually comes from.
Couples and friends
Train together, up to four
Bring your partner or a few friends and train alongside each other. Same coaching and the same attention to how you move, with a maximum of four people to a session.
Your first session
What to expect the first time
There’s nothing to prepare, and nothing you need to be able to do already.
- 01
We start by talking. What’s going on with your body, what you’ve done before, and what you want out of this.
- 02
Then some simple movements so I can see what’s moving well and what isn’t.
- 03
We’ll do some light strength work so you get a feel for it, and you’ll leave knowing what we’re working on and why.
- 04
You’ll walk out feeling better than when you came in.
The method
Why we train this way
Everyone tells you to lift heavy. Which isn’t wrong, but it’s only half the answer.
I want you to move better, sleep better, and have energy for the things you enjoy. You need more than just strength for that.
Strength training on its own builds strength in a body that still doesn’t move well.
Mobility on its own gets you moving well, until it tightens back up.
They work best together. You free up the movement first, then build the strength that keeps it there. That’s why every session has both.
What you’ll notice
How this shows up
Early on
You start feeling better
Your hips and back begin to loosen up. You’ve got more energy, and you’re sleeping better.
After a few months
Life starts feeling easier
Stairs stop being an effort. The shopping feels lighter. You start saying yes to more of life again.
What my clients say
“I had such a great experience with Alex! The sessions were really motivating and Alex made me feel comfortable and encouraged the whole time. I felt pushed to do my best without feeling overwhelmed. Definitely recommend Alex to anyone looking for a supportive and motivating personal trainer.”

Questions
Questions you’re probably asking
Is it safe to start at my age?
Yes. Supervised strength training is well suited to women in their 40s, 50s and 60s, and starting later means the difference you’ll feel is bigger, not smaller. We build up gradually, and if you have a condition you’re seeing a GP or physio about, I’ll work alongside them.
I’ve never lifted weights before. Is that a problem?
Not at all. It’s easier to teach you properly from scratch than to undo years of habits. We start with how you move and build from there.
What if I can’t keep up?
There’s nothing to keep up with. No class pace, no one else in the room. Your session moves at your speed, and if it’s too much on the day we change it.
I’ve got a sore knee, back or shoulder. Can I still train?
Usually, yes. We work around it and build the strength that supports it. Where it’s something clinical, I’ll work alongside your GP or physio rather than around them.
How often should I train?
Twice a week is the minimum, and it’s where steady progress comes from. We’ll work out what fits around the rest of your week. Consistency beats intensity every time.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. No lock-in contracts, and you can stop whenever you need to. I want you to stay because it’s working, not because you have to.
What happens on the free call?
We talk for about fifteen minutes. You tell me what’s going on and what you want out of this, I answer your questions, and we see if we’re a good fit. No pressure and no pitch, and if I’m not the right person for you, I’ll say so.
How soon will I notice a difference?
Most people feel something within a few weeks, usually energy and stiffness before anything else. Real strength changes take a couple of months of consistent training.
