Gym confidence for women in Perth
The hardest part might just be walking in.
You know you want to get stronger, but stepping into a gym when you’re not feeling confident can be a big step. With one-on-one Personal Training, you’ll have someone beside you who knows you, supports you and helps you build your confidence at your own pace.
We’ll chat on the phone first, so you can ask questions, tell me what’s on your mind and get to know me before you ever step into the gym.

If walking into a gym feels intimidating, you’re not alone
Australian research from VicHealth found that 52% of women worry about being judged when they exercise. So if you’ve ever felt nervous, self-conscious or unsure about walking into a gym, you’re definitely not the only one.
It can feel uncomfortable walking into a space where it seems like everyone else knows exactly what they’re doing, especially when you’re new, returning after some time away, or simply haven’t felt comfortable in gyms before.
And that feeling matters.
You shouldn’t have to feel confident before you start. Confidence is something we can build along the way.
Sometimes, the exercise isn’t the hardest part
If you haven’t felt comfortable in a gym before, there can be a few things that make getting started feel harder:
- Not knowing what to do. Which exercise? Which machine? How much weight? How many reps? Having someone beside you to guide you through it can take away a lot of that uncertainty.
- Feeling self-conscious. When you’re new or unsure of what you’re doing, it can feel like everyone else knows exactly what they’re doing. Building familiarity with the gym and confidence in what you’re doing can make a big difference.
- Having tried before. Maybe you joined a gym and stopped going, tried a class that wasn’t right for you, or simply didn’t feel supported. That doesn’t mean the next experience has to be the same.
You don’t need to feel confident before you start. Sometimes confidence comes from simply starting, having the right support beside you and building from there.
How to get over gym anxietyWe make getting started feel a little less intimidating
With one-on-one Personal Training, there’s no class pace to keep up with and no need to know what you’re doing before you arrive. That’s what I’m here for.
You’ll work with me each session, so I’ll get to know you, your body and how you like to be coached. We’ll build your confidence gradually, and you’ll never be expected to keep up with anyone else.
Your sessions are planned for you, but they’re not set in stone. We check in, see how you’re feeling that day and adapt when we need to.
I train from PrimeFit in Osborne Park, a small, friendly, community-based gym where you can focus on your own training while having me there beside you.
What you’ll notice
Over time, things that once felt unfamiliar can start to feel a little more natural.
You begin to understand the equipment. You know why you’re doing each exercise. You feel more comfortable walking into the gym and more confident in what your body can do.
And then you start noticing the Life & Health Wins outside the gym too: feeling stronger, moving with more confidence, or doing something that used to feel difficult a little more easily.
Gym confidence isn’t something you need to bring with you. It’s something we build along the way.
Strength training for women over 40What the first session actually looks like
If you’re feeling a little nervous about your first session, knowing what to expect can make things easier.
We’ll start with your Initial PT & Movement Assessment. This gives us time to chat about you, your exercise history, how your body is feeling and anything we need to be mindful of.
We’ll also go through some simple movements so I can see how your body moves and get a better understanding of where we’re starting from. There’s nothing you need to prepare for and nothing you need to prove.
From there, I can start building your training around you.
All you need to bring is a water bottle and wear something you feel comfortable moving in.
Gym confidence coaching for women in Perth, based in Osborne Park
If you’ve been searching for help with gym anxiety in Perth, or looking for a personal trainer who understands that walking into a gym can sometimes be the hardest part, you’re in the right place.
I offer one-on-one Personal Training at PrimeFit, a small, friendly, community-based gym in Osborne Park, where we can take things at your pace and gradually build your confidence along the way.
It’s an easy drive from Karrinyup, Stirling, Woodlands, Innaloo, Doubleview, Noranda, Dianella and the surrounding northern suburbs.
I work with women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond, including women who are new to the gym or returning to exercise after some time away. You don’t need to feel confident or know what you’re doing before you start. That’s something we can build together.
Where to start
It starts with a free 15-minute Welcome Call, so you don’t even need to step into the gym yet.
It’s simply a chance for us to have a chat. You can tell me a little about yourself, what you’re looking for and any questions or concerns you might have.
I’ll talk you through how I work and we can see whether we’re the right fit for each other.
No pressure. Just a friendly chat about you and what you need.
Questions women ask me
Is it normal to feel anxious about going to the gym?
Yes. Feeling nervous, self-conscious or unsure in a gym is more common than you might think. Australian research has found that many women worry about being judged when they exercise. If you feel this way, you’re definitely not alone.
Will I be training in front of other people?
PrimeFit is a small, friendly, community-based gym rather than a big commercial gym, so you won’t be walking into a crowded environment. There may be other people training at the same time, but your PT session is one-on-one with me, focused on you, your program and your own pace.
What if I don’t know how to use any of the equipment?
That’s completely okay. You don’t need to know anything before you start. I’ll show you how to use the equipment and guide you through your exercises until you feel comfortable doing them.
Can I meet you before I commit to anything?
Absolutely. We start with a free 15-minute Welcome Call, so we can get to know each other, chat about what you’re looking for and answer any questions you have before you even step into the gym.
What if I’m the least fit person you’ve ever trained?
It really doesn’t matter. There’s no level of fitness you need to reach before you start. Wherever you are right now is where we begin, and we build from there.
What if I feel panicky about it on the day?
Tell me. We can slow things down, take a moment or adjust what we’re doing. You don’t need to push through something just because it was part of the plan.
Is this the same as a small group or a women’s-only gym?
No. I offer one-on-one Personal Training, as well as Couples & Friends Personal Training for 2–4 people. PrimeFit is a community gym used by both men and women, and your training with me is personalised to you rather than following a class.
Wherever you’re starting from, there’s a way forward that works for you.
